I recently gave a presentation at the National Groundwater Association (NGWA) Conference offering ideas on how to market your consulting firm. The presentation was focused on getting back to basics and the integration of branding, marketing, and selling strategies to successfully grow your business. The presentation looks at the following areas:

Evaluating your brand
The term “brand” continues to have a good deal of misinterpretation and misinformation attached to it. It’s more than a logo or a tag line. Branding is the process of strategically positioning your product or service to result in sales in today’s market.

Marketing planning and communication vehicles to consider
As the distinguishing element of any business, your marketing message is the main point to communicate your brand. In your organization, is that communication based on a strategic plan or ad hoc approach?

Strategies for sales success
And selling is building trust and rapport in order to deliver on your brand promise and value. Your clients want to be led toward a solution and it’s easy to pay the price when the promise is clear.

Social media marketing quick start
Socail media leverages traditional word-of-mouth marketing and networking in online forums. Successful social media marketing (SMM) campaigns can be a key catalyst for a small to medium sized business to grow their business. Without a great deal of expense, and if implemented correctly, it will increase brand equity and public relations reach at a small fraction of traditional advertising costs and effort. Not to mention it can also provide market research.

Obviously, there’s no magic marketing bullet. I’m hoping you’ll take away from this presentation a variety of ideas that will help you identify and create the results you want in your business.
