About Me
The Electric Auto Association (EAA) of Northern Nevada is for electric vehicle enthusiasts in Reno, Sparks, Washoe County and surrounding areas. We are the regional chapter of the Electric Auto Association whose mission, in part, is to act as a public source of information about electric vehicle (EV) technology, to encourage experimentation in the building of EVs, and to organize exhibits and events to educate the public and civic leaders on the progress and benefits of EV technology.

The EAA of Northern Nevada (EAANN) is also involved with urban planning that promotes equitable smart-growth policies which include efficient walkable / bikeable communities augmented with clean public transportation options and greenspaces. To that end we are actively developing initiatives to accelerate deployment of distributed renewable energy generation capacity with a focus on "smart-garage" implementation where buildings, transportation, and the electric grid meet forming a synergistic relationship that enhances efficiency, reduces costs, and mitigates climate changing greenhouse gas emissions.

I also co-host This Week in Energy (TWiE) a podcast http://ThisWeekinEnergy.tv dedicated to demystifying home-brewed as well as grid-scale renewable and traditional energy generation solutions, electric vehicles, and smart-grid technologies such that everyone may participate - or even discover training and career opportunities - in the energy industry's emerging fundamental shift that we call the "Dot Energy Boom": the point where information technology (IT) intersects with buildings, transportation, and the electric grid.

You're invited to join your co-hosts, Nikki Gordon-Bloomfield in the UK and Bob Tregilus in the USA, as well as exciting guests from around the world, each Wednesday at 19:00 UTC (click here to convert to local time).

When you join us here for the live show you may either watch the videofeed, or simply listen, while you network with others and industry professionals in TWiE community online chat. And if you can't participate with us during the live Wednesday feed, don't worry, the TWiE podcast can also be downloaded for later listening on your favorite portable audio player.

Each week TWiE will bring you a global news roundup of the leading stories and developments in the world of energy as well as entertaining discussions with advocates, scientists, policymakers, historians, engineers, and regular folks from across the globe, on topics ranging from how energy is produced, stored, transmitted, and consumed to how it impacts our societies, environment, politics, and pocketbooks, all in a friendly straight-forward manner that everyone can understand.

I have heard of the Tesla Roadster and it's awesome. I love cars and love the more eco-friendly versions as well. Looking forward to checking it out myself :) Think I'll have to test drive one for my site :)

Hi

Nice to meet you! I'm new to ecoBrand. I'm beginning to build a small green home business in the Boulder City area. One of the things I'm looking forward to in the future is also creating a green website (tips, articles, recipes, interviews, products, etc.). We're having an exciting meeting tomorrow night at the Henderson Multi-generational Center. It's all about greening your home and ridding it (and the world) of toxic chemicals. Often the meetings are standing room only and they are a great place to network! We'd love to have you. E-mail me (jandlexcel@cox.net) and I'll send the flyer with all the details if you can’t see my attachment. Hope to see you there!

P.S. Would love to add you as a friend

We are building a coalition to support the passage of a feed-in law which will create a renewable energy payments or REPs program in Nevada (also known as feed-in tariffs or FITs in Europe).

REPs are time-tested as the worlds most cost effective and equitable policy tool for accelerating deployment of renewable energy (RE) generation and clean-tech jobs at no cost to government and negligible cost to the consumer.

Electric vehicle enthusiasts are interested in RE because we not only like running our cars on electricity, but we'd prefer that electricity was generated from renewable resources such as the sun, wind, geothermal, hydro, and biogas.

Follow this link for more information on our REPs & jobs creation initiative:

"The long-term case for V2G [vehicle-to-grid] boils down to a choice. We can keep the electric system and vehicle fleet separate, in which case we substantially increase the cost of renewable energy because we have to build storage to match intermittent capacity. Or, we can connect the vehicle and electric power systems intelligently, using the vast untapped storage of an emerging electric-drive vehicle fleet to serve the electric grid."
-- Willett Kempton & Jasna Tomić, 2004

Wouldn't you like to receive a check from the power company instead of a bill, while never having to stop at a gas station? Sounds whacky, but with electric vehicles and V2G it may become a reality! For those reasons and many more it is important that everyone does what they can to [...]

Nevada Clean Energy Thrives

By JOHN G. EDWARDS LAS VEGAS REVIEW-JOURNAL Nevada’s clean-energy economy grew even faster than other sectors between 1998 and 2007, according to a study by The Pew Charitable Trusts. During that period, Nevada’s clean-energy industries increased employment by 28.8 percent to 3,641 jobs, compared to 26.5 percent for all jobs in the state. The clean-energy [...]

The Growth Of Green Marketing

Today’s consumers are increasingly socially conscious, with a growing concern to know if companies honestly treat employees fairly while doing their part to protect and save the environment. Brand values like social responsibility, benefit to the community, and “being green” are at the top of more shopping lists than ever. Not unsurprisingly, enthusiasts of technology are [...]
