About Me
ABOUT ME
Over the last six years, I have worked on many major Las Vegas trade shows, including MAGIC, PROJECT, National Association of Broadcasters and International Builders' Show. This is just a small sample, since I work on about 65 shows a year .This has given me extensive experience in event operations and logistics, as well as exhibit installation and dismantle (for both custom and modular structures). I’m also intimately familiar with every convention center in Las Vegas, Having such behind-the-scenes knowledge played into my decision to found Greener Vegas in 2007. My idea was to recuperate some of the useful materials left over after a trade show and give them back to the community, rather than sending them to landfill. This seemed to fill two needs: 1. connect the trade show industry with the community of Las Vegas, and 2. solve exhibitors’ problem of getting rid of waste in a cost-effective way.
ABOUT GREENER VEGAS
Greener Vegas is a 501c3 nonprofit that works with the convention industry and other local businesses to repurposes unwanted materials that are either non-recyclable or difficult to recycle; for example foam-board, fiberboard, bags, products and booths. These materials have a multitude of uses in schools, art and architecture classes, theaters and other organizations.
Greener Vegas’ services save money for both donors and recipients. Trade show managers reduce their trash hauling costs and get tax deductions for donated materials; the community receives much-needed resources. Our program offers visiting associations and corporations a socially responsible way to be both green and provide for the Las Vegas community. Our Web site also allows local contractors, venue managers and donors to stay informed about the impact of their donations, heightening their connection to the community and providing an immediate, tangible benefit of doing the right thing.

Specialties:We leverage our recycling experience and positive relationship with the trade show industry to recover these materials and find a second life for them. We collect, sort and store items until they’re needed, and then distribute them to those who need them most: local kids, schools and community groups.

Off to an Incredible Start!

Greener Vegas was happy to be involved with the pick up of a generous donation of Styrofoam artboard, foamcore, and Gatorboard from Apple Foam & Plastics (AFP). We were contacted by Michael Corrente, CDL Supervisor at the School of Architecture, University of Nevada, whose program Greener Vegas has worked with before (click here)
Michael contacted manager Vi Heffelfinger of AFP and made arrangements for Greener Vegas to transport, facilitate and share in this donation. Another WIN-WIN result… Continue

For those reasons and many more it is important that everyone does what they can to [...]

The Growth Of Green Marketing

Brand values like social responsibility, benefit to the community, and “being green” are at the top of more shopping lists than ever. Not unsurprisingly, enthusiasts of technology are [...]
